I'm doubly sorry to learn of Joel's passing while reading Rueben's obituary. Joel was my first roommate at Cal Poly. I transferred in Winter Quarter and remember Joel's warm smile and welcoming spirit. We stayed in touch after our first year, but lost track after I joined the Army for three years. I think of him often, especially when I have occasion to " show someone the ropes" like Joel did for me. Rest in peace Joel.
