At Hillside, we are committed to every individual and family who joins our community and dedicated to honoring their memory.
Some of our most Distinguished Residents include Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Leonard Nimoy, Dinah Shore, Moe Howard, Hank Greenberg, Suzanne Pleshette, Shelly Winters, Max Factor, Jerry Leiber, Maria Altmann, Julius Shulman, Ruth Handler, and Michael Landon.
All these notable individuals – who have made us laugh or cry or hold our breath – have been laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary.
The over 400 individuals highlighted in the book have contributed significantly to shaping the Los Angeles community–touching and inspiring the lives of people around the world. It is a fascinating collection of stories of courage, genius, generosity, endurance, creativity, humor and athleticism. They have changed our world through all manner of endeavors, planned and unplanned, through the arts, philanthropy, medicine, law, sports and business. Their legacy is one of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
We realize the greatest tribute is not grief, but gratitude for a life well-lived. To raise awareness of the contributions and legacies of the distinguished and accomplished individuals who have been entrusted to our care, we have created the Distinguished Residents Guide.
