Funeral Director

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Funeral Director to join their team in Los Angeles, California. The Funeral Director conducts multiple funeral and memorial services from set-up to completion. This includes setting up flowers, chapels, programs, music selections, caskets and waiting on family members, all to make services meaningful while providing a positive customer service experience. The Funeral Director also handles financial payments for balances due in addition to working closely with mortuary secretaries, chapel attendants, assistant funeral directors and counselors. A high level of customer service interaction is necessary with families, guests and rabbis. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to keeping the mortuary stocked with materials as well as light housekeeping which includes, vacuuming, emptying trash cans, dusting and other tasks required to maintain a neat and orderly facility. A funeral director’s license or the ability to obtain a funeral director’s license is required.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $22.00-$26.00/hour.

This position must be able to work Sunday through Friday from 8:00-4:30. This position is off on Saturdays and one other day during the week. Rotating Fridays and Saturdays off once per month.

Field Crew Associate

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a highly motivated Field Crew Associate to join our team in Los Angeles, California. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $16.50-$17.00/hour.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Set-up and closing of graves and wall crypt sites.
Assist visitors in the park with trimming and cleaning of burial site markers.
Install markers on ground and walls and marker rubbings.
Assist rabbis and funeral directors at services.
Additional responsibilities include washing down sidewalks and wall crypts, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning of flower stations, cobweb removal, cleaning sarcophagus, and picking up debris from various areas of the park.
Other duties may include but are not limited to picking up parts and materials as needed from outside vendors and stores and interacting with families and guests to Hillside.

Qualifications:

Backhoe and tractor operation experience preferred but not required
Experience with hand-held power tools and light equipment and two-way radios preferred
A minimum of one year relevant experience preferred
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean DMV record
Strong ability to exercise sound judgment
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong accuracy and attention to detail skills
Positive and professional attitude and demeanor
Must pass a basic physical and drug test post offer
Must pass a lifting test of 100 lbs. and be able to push and pull 100 lbs.
Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time and access all areas of the park
Must be able to stoop and bend and stand on scaffolding or climb ladders up to 25 feet

This position must be able to work Sundays with a rotating schedule and be able to work outside in all types of weather.

Mortuary Assistant

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Mortuary Associate to join their team in Los Angeles, California. The Mortuary Associate is responsible for supporting the Mortuary with bringing decedents into Hillside’s care along with supporting the Mortuary Administrative team with various responsibilities. This position is responsible for performing work-related errands for the department manager and others at Hillside, including assisting with funeral services, concierge coverage, and janitorial duties as needed.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $20.00 – $25.00/hour.
