Information Booth Attendant

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking an Information Booth Attendant.  This position is responsible for greeting visitors, directing traffic and parking and providing outstanding customer service while maintaining the confidentiality of Hillside and the families Hillside serves.   Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Interacts professionally and proactively with families, visitors and Hillside departments. This includes maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
  • Provides flyers regarding Hillside special events to visitors as they enter the park.
  • Greet visitors immediately upon their arrival and provide them with exceptional customer service
  • Works closely with other Hillside staff and external resources such as rabbis, florists and the press to ensure services run smoothly.
  • Assists visitors in finding locations. Provides occasional and private impromptu tours of the park.
  • Directs and maintains organized parking for all incoming vehicles including parking for funerals, visitors, customer inquiries, vendors, celebrity funerals, and the press/media. Also manages parking for special Hillside events.
  • Ensures the Information Booth is kept in a neat and organized manner.
  • Monitors the security monitors and alerts management of all potential security issues.
  • Protects the privacy of guest lists for celebrity and private services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

This is a full-time position that requires regular attendance.  The hours for this position are 8:00-4:30.  This position is off on Saturdays and one other day during the week that is mutually agreed upon by the manager and employee.  Sundays are required. Due to the essential functions of this position, it cannot be performed at home or remotely.

Embalmer/Funeral Director

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a licensed Embalmer/ Funeral Director to work with our dedicated staff to serve the families who choose Hillside. This position is responsible for successfully providing a full range of embalming, restorative and reconstruction processes to prepare the deceased for funeral services. This position will also be responsible for assisting and leading chapel and graveside services.

The ideal candidate must possess a valid California Embalmer’s License though a funeral director’s license in combination with an embalmer’s license is preferred. The ideal candidate must be skilled at dressing and cosmetizing decedents that are embalmed, in addition to those that are not embalmed. The ideal candidate must be skilled at recreating multiple hairstyles and be willing to learn Jewish funeral customs and traditions. This position also works closely with vendors and maintains a clean, neat and orderly preparation, Tahara and storage area. This role also works closely with other Hillside staff and external resources such as rabbis and others involved with the funeral service. A strong comfort level with grieving families is a must. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to telephone coverage, word-processing and other duties as assigned.

  • The ideal candidate must possess an active California embalmer’s license, though an active funeral director’s license in combination with an active embalmer’s license is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience as a licensed embalmer, with a focus on hair and makeup, is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in Windows, including Word and Excel.
  • This position must be able to work an 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. This position is off on Sundays and Mondays.
