Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a highly motivated Field Crew Associate to join our team in Los Angeles, California.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set-up and closing of graves and wall crypt sites.
  • Assist visitors in the park with trimming and cleaning of burial site markers.
  • Install markers on ground and walls and marker rubbings.
  • Assist rabbis and funeral directors at services.
  • Additional responsibilities include washing down sidewalks and wall crypts, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning of flower stations, cobweb removal, cleaning sarcophagus, and picking up debris from various areas of the park.
  • Other duties may include but are not limited to picking up parts and materials as needed from outside vendors and stores and interacting with families and guests to Hillside.

Qualifications:

  • Backhoe and tractor operation experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with hand-held power tools and light equipment and two-way radios preferred
  • A minimum of one year relevant experience preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean DMV record
  • Strong ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail skills
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor
  • Must pass a basic physical and drug test post offer
  • Must pass a lifting test of 100 lbs. and be able to push and pull 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time and access all areas of the park
  • Must be able to stoop and bend and stand on scaffolding or climb ladders up to 25 feet

This position must be able to work Sundays with a rotating schedule and be able to work outside in all types of weather.

Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Family Service Arranger to join their At-Need team in Los Angeles, California. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with families during what is often a very difficult life event. This position works one on one with our families to ensure that all of the details related to their loved one’s funeral service exceed the family’s expectations. The ideal candidate must be able to present different funeral options to the family while remaining calm and composed under even the most difficult of circumstances. The Family Service Arranger also works closely with other Hillside staff and external resources such as rabbis, florists and the press. A strong comfort level with the death-care industry is a must. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to telephone coverage, word-processing and other duties as assigned. This is not a sales or counseling position.

 

The ideal candidate should possess at least 60 hours of college credit in order to obtain a funeral director’s license. The following is also required:

 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Strong ability to evaluate and appropriately address privacy and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks. Must be able to switch gears quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with a high degree of initiative
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Professional attitude and demeanor

 

This is a full-time position that requires regular attendance. The hours for this position are 8:30-5:00. This position is off on Saturdays and one other day during the week that is mutually agreed upon by the manager and employee. Sundays are required. Due to the essential functions of this position, it cannot be performed at home or remotely.
