Barbara Richman Warner passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Rancho Mirage, California. She was born to Rose and David Richman in 1927, in New Haven, Connecticut. Barbara loved golf, bridge, traveling, entertaining, and was an avid reader of magazines and novels. Barbara will always be remembered for her gracious smile, sense of style and kind generosity. Barbara’s father, David, was a prominent attorney in Connecticut. Just prior to the start of WWII, David took his immediate family on a vacation to Europe, visiting England, Scotland, France, Holland and Switzerland. Barbara attended Dana Hall in Massachusetts and then the University of Vermont. In 1947, she met Jack Warner Jr., son of movie mogul, Jack L. Warner, and Irma Warner Rogell. The couple were married at the Pierre Hotel in New York City on May 30, 1948. Soon, thereafter, the newlyweds moved to London, England, where Jack Jr. produced, the “Hasty Heart”, at Pinewood Studios, for Warner Brothers, staring Ronald Reagan and Patricia Neal. Barbara and Jack Jr. then returned to America, living in Brentwood, California, eventually raising their lovely daughters, Betsy and Debbie, while Jack Jr. continued to work at Warners’. The couple were members of Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles and Tamarisk Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Jack Warner Jr., and her daughter, Sally Jo Warner. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Warner, daughter Debbie Warner Walch, son-in-law, Jay R. Walch, grandson, Richard Warner Rasmussen (Heather) and two great-grandchildren, Cody and Zoey, all of Los Angeles. In addition, Barbara is survived by her brother, Henry Richman, of San Francisco, two nephews, Michael and Steven, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Warner Howard of NYC.
Barbara was especially proud of her grandson, Richard, who followed in his grandfather’s footsteps in the entertainment industry. Mom, we love you and we will miss you terribly. Rest in Peace…
The services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations please be made, in Barbara’s honor, to any animal rescue organization or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
