Nathan (Neil) Nermon, a self-made man, passed away in the home he was so proud of on September 4, 2017 in Tustin, California just 4 days shy of his 94th birthday. Neil was a man that could have invented the term ‘work ethic’ and so it’s fitting that he chose to make his transition on Labor Day.
Neil Nermon was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his beloved wife Linda who was devoted to him, the 4 children he was so proud of; twins Michael (Elain) & Tina, sons Brooks (Adriana) and Jeffrey (Teresa), along with his 8 beautiful grandchildren; Luchino, Michelle, Roberto, Joshua, Aleksei, twins Julian & Isabella and our newest, sweetest addition 3 year old Sophia….all of whom were a never ending source of pride and joy in his life. Neil was born Nathan Nemeroff on September 8, 1923 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Russian immigrants Isadore and Lena Nemeroff who were salt-of-the earth people. He proudly served in the army in Europe during World War 2. Always handsome and impeccably dressed, Neil had a long and adventurous life filled with love and romance that took him from coast to coast and several spots in-between. Oft times hobnobbing with celebrities through business who quickly became his friends, there was never a dull moment in his life. But his greatest joy was providing for his wife Linda and his ever-growing family. Neil was an innovative entrepreneur who pioneered the adjustable bed industry from its early stages, first with the Niagara Corporation in the 1960’s and 1970’s and then by creating his own company and unique niche in the mattress industry. After founding Maxwell Products in 1978 he established a highly successful business operation with worldwide distribution employing hundreds of people. A gifted, intuitive business owner, he was known for his personal touch and no matter how large his empire grew he knew everyone by name along with their families. He was beloved by his employees, many of whom worked for him from the time they were teenagers until they retired. Soon after Neil’s retirement in the year 2000, the adjustable bed industry, which he innovated, blossomed into the fastest growing segment of the mattress industry. A funeral is scheduled for Friday September 8th at 2:00 pm at Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City. September 8th would have been Neil’s 94th Birthday so we will be Celebrating his Life as we lay him to rest and mourn his passing.
