Family Service Advisor
Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Family Service Advisor to join the Hillside team in Los Angeles, California.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with families, arranging their cemetery and mortuary plans before or at the time of need. This position works one on one with our families and requires a desire to provide the highest level of service, ensuring all details exceed expectations.
Responsibilities include providing callers and visitors with information regarding available options, collaboration with other departments in preparation for meetings with time of need families, contract and document research, memorial marker planning, aftercare follow up, CRM software data entry, and other duties as assigned.
This is a customer service position with a non-commission sales component. The following is also required:
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate with empathy and sincerity.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks. Must be able to switch gears quickly
- Demonstrated ability to act with a high degree of initiative and an ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and a positive, professional attitude and demeanor.
- Ability to demonstrate company values of integrity, diversity, respect, collaboration, quality, and kindness.
- High comfort level and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
- Ability to consistently track leads and inquiries to conclusion through CRM.
- Ability to apply a consultative sales process with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to consistently and properly use a customer service call rotation system.
- College degree preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of consultative sales experience is preferred.
Above all, we are looking for someone who is able to address the needs of the families we serve in a compassionate and empathetic manner, while remaining consistent with our high standards and core values. This position must be able to work on Saturdays and Sundays per the rotation schedule. The hours for this position are 8:30-5:00. Remote work is not available due to the essential functions of this position. Full training and a competitive benefit package is provided.
The hourly rate of pay for this position is $28.85/hour and will increase to $36.05/hour once all training benchmarks have been met.

Funeral Service Assistant
Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Funeral Service Assistant to join their team in Los Angeles, California.

The Funeral Service Assistant is an entry-level position that works directly under the supervision of Hillside’s service directing team. This role supports the team in preparing and assisting with funeral services from set-up to completion. The Funeral Service Assistant will work closely with experienced staff to ensure services run smoothly, offering respectful and professional assistance to families and guests. This position requires strong attention to detail, the willingness to follow instructions, and the ability to maintain professional standards at all times. Light housekeeping and occasional administrative tasks are also part of the role. The ideal candidate should demonstrate compassion, be willing to learn, and work well under direct supervision in a fast-paced environment.
The hourly rate of pay for this position is $22.00-$24.00/hour.
Key Responsibilities
Funeral Service Support
- Assists the Service Directing team with setting up and facilitating funeral and memorial services under close supervision.
- Helps prepare various service components, including flowers, sanctuaries, gravesites, and casket placement, ensuring all aspects meet the team's instructions and expectations.
- Assists with service-related requests such as live-streaming and coordinating music and video under the guidance of the Service Directing team.
- Follows up with the team to ensure all service details are properly executed.
Customer Service
- Provides respectful and compassionate assistance to families under the guidance of the service team.
- Maintains professionalism when interacting with families, guests, and clergy as directed by supervisors.
- Communicates clearly and effectively as part of the service support team.
Maintaining Professional Standards
- Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and follows dress code requirements.
- Adheres to established procedures and standards for handling company property and family items with care.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists with answering phones and providing basic concierge services as needed.
- Helps maintain service-related inventories and ensures the service area is clean and presentable by performing light housekeeping tasks.
- Completes other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Professional Skills:
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to follow instructions closely.

Maintenance and Repair Crew
Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary is currently seeking a Maintenance and Repair Crew to join their team in Los Angeles, California. The Maintenance and Repair Crew position is responsible for the maintenance and general condition of the Company's grounds and facilities. May also assist the interment crew as needed.
The hourly rate of pay for this position is $20.00-$30.00/hour.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience with hand-held power tools, light equipment and two-way radios preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean DMV record
- Strong ability to exercise sound judgment
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

- Positive, professional attitude and demeanor
- Must pass a basic physical and drug test post offer and be able to lift, push and pull 50 lbs.

- Must be able to stoop, bend and stand on scaffolding or climb ladders up to 25 feet
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Of Maintenance Work
- Accurately diagnoses and solves problems with cost effective, long-term solutions.
- Performs maintenance work on the property, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other related tasks; assists with grounds work when required.
- Coordinates and monitors the quality of maintenance work being performed by outside contractors.
Schedules & Assignments
- Ensures a prompt response to all service requests, including emergency situations.
- Identifies the most efficient way to handle maintenance requests; effectively manages busy periods with high volumes of requests.
- Works consistently and remains engaged throughout the entire work shift.
Maintenance Customer Service
- Makes all customers/ guests feel important and comfortable during their interactions.
- Interacts well with customers/ guests from all age groups and cultural backgrounds.
- Effectively manages issues/ problems, so all customers/ guests are satisfied and have a good experience.
Professionalism
- Maintains standards for staff uniforms, dress codes, hygiene and appearance for facilities staff.
- Shows up on-time and ready to work for all shifts.
- Limits short-notice absences to rare occasions and requests time off with advanced notice.
Safety & Organization
- Maintains building safety systems, ensuring compliance with all Company, local, city, state and federal guidelines.
- Keeps accurate, detailed and timely maintenance records for all activities.
- This position must be able to work Sundays with a rotating schedule and be able to work outside in all types of weather.
