Lee Aaron Garry Profile Photo

Lee Aaron Garry, the only child of Idelle and Sam Goldberg, has passed away at age 86.

A native Angeleno, Lee graduated from Fairfax High School, UCLA (undergrad) and USC (law school). While he enjoyed engaging in the banter characteristic of that crosstown rivalry, his true loyalty was always to his beloved Bruins.

In 1970, he married Barbara and they enjoyed 55 years of marital contentment, personal and professional success and satisfaction, as well travel (especially to Hawaii, their “happy place”), socializing with friends and family, and living an active and enjoyable life.

Lee practiced law for over 50 years, largely as a sole practitioner.

Sports played a predominant role in Lee’s life—both as a spectator and participant. In addition to rooting for the LA pro teams (yes, he “bled Dodger blue”, yes he loved those Lakers, especially Magic Johnson); Lee also enjoyed participating in sports. At various times he played in basketball and slo-pitch softball leagues, was an accomplished tennis player (and two-time president of the Mountain Gate Country Club Tennis Club Board) and in his later decades he was an avid golfer.

Lee is survived by his wife Barbara, his sister-in-law Louise Ackerman (George), nephews Larry Grant (Rebecca) and Andrew Ackerman (Cindy) and his niece Elizabeth Sands (Chris) as well as numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews. All will miss his friendly personality, intelligence, integrity, kindness, competence and wry sense of humor.

Contributions in his name to the Parkinson’s Foundation or other similar organizations are much appreciated.
