Mollie “Lee” Welinsky, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 92.

Lee was born on February 2nd, 1928 to Rebecca Goldman and Sam Peskin in Indianapolis, Indiana. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY before settling in Los Angeles in 1943. In 1948 she married Jack Welinsky and raised two children, Howard and Sandra. At age 63 she passed the bar after receiving her law degree from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law. She practiced at the Santa Monica Rent Control Board for 10 years.

Lee had a passion for politics and was never shy to express her opinion. From buttons, bumper stickers, to t-shirts, she was proud to openly show her support for progressive causes and campaigns. She was proud to serve as President of the Culver City Democratic Club for three years, on the LA Board of Democrats for Israel, a delegate to the State Party, and was elected to Democratic Party County Central Committee of Assembly District 47. She was a constant reader, fan of star trek, loved to travel, and cared about people having safe shoes on.

Lee was preceded in death by her Father Sam, her Mother Rebecca and her husband Jack. She is survived by her son Howard and wife Karren, daughter Sandra and husband Bob, granddaughter Jennifer, grandson David, great granddaughter Jasmine, and great-grandson Jackson. She will be placed in a crypt at the Hillside Cemetery in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, due to COVID 19, the service will be limited to immediate family. If you knew Lee, she had very specific instructions for her funeral, and specified no flowers. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Democrats for Israel-Los Angeles or a charity of your choice.
