Clark Garen, the only child of Bernard and Ruth Garen, passed away on April 26th, 2019 from complications from his valiant year-long battle against leukemia.
Clark was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Redondo Beach. Following his graduation from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, Clark was admitted into the bar in 1972, and he developed a thriving career specializing in tax and collection law. He always had a dream of being a talk show host in radio and television. After living in Nevada, Texas, and Louisiana in the ’80s, Clark spent time in Palm Springs where he hosted his own radio show while continuing his career as a lawyer. In 2012, he purchased his own television station and broadcasted on four local channels until his death.
Clark loved life. He was particularly enthusiastic about flying his own plane, traveling extensively throughout the United States, and hosting live theater parties for his many friends. Clark was a very loving and caring person. He took care of his mother in his home during her declining years. He was married and widowed in his early ’20s and had no children.
Clark was a great friend and cared deeply for many. Clark was greatly loved by legions of friends, colleagues, and clients whose lives he impacted over the years. All can attest to Clark’s huge heart and generosity. Clark was always involved in his friends’ family’s interests and needs. He particularly loved to mentor his friends’ children.
Clark will be laid to rest next to his beloved parents at Hillside Cemetery in Culver City.
“OUR LOVE AND MEMORIES ARE THE ONLY THINGS WE CAN TAKE WITH US.” -Clark Garen
