March 29, 1940 - September 11, 2022
Edward “Eddie” Goldstein of Granada Hills, California passed away on September 11, 2022, at the age of 82.
Eddie is survived by his devoted and loving wife of over 45 years, Nicki Goldstein. They married in 1977, bringing their beloved children, Shari Ure (Chris), Scott Goldstein (Sharon), Michelle Brower (Rick), Sandi Krul (JT), Michael Goldstein (Michele), Lynn Benson (Steven), into a beautifully united, blended family, which has grown to include 12 loving grandchildren, Jordan & Zachary Brower, Bailey & Alexis Goldstein, Eli & River Ure, Emma & Avery Krul, Alana & Jenna Benson, and Benny & Jaden Goldstein.
Born on March 29, 1940 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to Jacob and Phyllis (Weinstein) Goldstein, he moved with his family to Los Angeles as a young child just prior to starting kindergarten at Carthay Center Elementary School. He graduated from Los Angeles High School and maintained life-long friendships from those early years.
He took great pride in being the patriarch of his family and loved spending the Jewish holidays and sharing in milestones with his children and grandchildren, which would often include his first wife, Debby Bitticks (whom Nicki affectionately refers to as her “ex-wife in law”) to ensure that their children benefited from the love of this uniquely blended family.
Eddie always embraced the world around him. He was proud of his long-time participation on the board of the Synagogue for the Performing Arts, delighted in telling jokes, and loved basking in the sun listening to Frank Sinatra and sipping his scotch on the rocks. He was a life-long sports fan and enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams on television, including his much-loved Cleveland Browns. In addition to spending time with his family, he also cherished the meaningful friendships he developed throughout the many stages of his life, from his childhood friends to the more recent “Starbucks” crew who he would visit on daily walks with his dog.
Preceding his passing, in addition to his parents, were his two brothers Harvey and Norton Goldstein (Goldy Norton), and his adored dogs, Rupert, Junior and Florrie.
A memorial service for Eddie will be held at Noon on Thursday, September 15th at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 West Centinela Avenue in Los Angeles.
