Judis, Gary Karl
June 2, 1938 – July 2, 2022
Gary passed away peacefully in his home with his wife by his side on Saturday, July 2nd at 9:13pm. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Annie (Jeanie) Judis, 4 children, one step son, and 3 grandchildren.
Gary was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1938 to his parents Harry and Minnie Judis. He had a younger sister Carol. He moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was 6 years old. Gary attended Fairfax High School and graduated from Hamilton High School. After completing 2 ½ years of college he enlisted in the Airforce during Vietnam where he was a radio announcer. He was the first person to add music to the Airforce’s news broadcasts. Upon returning from the military, Gary pursued acting and screenwriting. Once he began a family, he became a mortgage broker and real estate agent. He eventually started his own company and then went on to become the CEO of AAMES Home Loan which he took public. He served as the President of the Mortgage Bankers Association and helped write California legislation.
After taking his company public, Gary retired and had the joy of being an active and present father raising his youngest child. He was dedicated to his health and fitness, working out daily. He enjoyed his Friday lunches with the “boys” debating politics and world affairs. He loved the time he spent with his wife and family, traveling, going out to dinner and having the most amazing “Annual Super Bowl Parties”.
Gary was an intelligent, charismatic, and funny man who will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held this Sunday, at 12:00pm at Hillside Mortuary located at 6001 W. Centinela Blvd. Los Angeles, CA
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Doctors without Borders, both of which Gary supported.
