Harold S. Cosel, beloved husband, father, and grandfather – passed from this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at age 94. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie M. Cosel, his son’s Stephen, Gary, and Scott, and grandson’s David and Jeremy Cosel. Harold was born on December 30, 1921 in New York City, to parents Sol and Rachel Cosel. He had two brothers, Richard (deceased), and Walter (deceased). After serving in the U.S. Army (until 1946) he relocated with his wife to Los Angeles, California. He had a love for photography, international travel, financial investing, and the music of Frank Sinatra. He volunteered his time serving at the local election polling precinct, assisting with the organization – Recording for the Blind, and helped at the local military pharmacy. The most important love of his life was his beloved wife, Marjorie. Until the week of his passing it was not unusual to find him holding her hand and gazing with the eyes of a young man upon his bride. They were married in 1946 after meeting on a blind date in Champagne Illinois while he was on leave from the Army. His devotion to her was beyond reproach. Harold “Bud” Cosel served in WWII in the South Pacific – Army Airways Community System, Army of Occupation in Japan. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, served active duty and reserves for 30 years – retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1981. He was awarded the Presidential Unit of Citation as part of the detachment, conditions for surrender from Gen. McArthur. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary, Culver City, CA.
