Steven Alan Litvack צודק אברהם בן רחל נגד משה (1946-2026)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Alan Litvack, who died on Thursday October 8, 2026, at the age of 80.
Steve is survived by Gail, his beloved wife of 59 years; his two sons, Mike and Josh; his daughter-in-law, Cathryn Dhanatya; his grandchildren, Rosalyn and Jackson; his sisters, Elyse Litvack and Linda Emanuel; his brother, David Merdler; and their families. He also leaves behind hundreds of friends and acquaintances who will miss him dearly.
Steve was born in May 1946 to Murray Litvack and Rose Elster Litvack, both of whom preceded him in death. He and Gail made their home in Mar Vista for 57 years, where they raised their two sons. After graduating from Venice High School, Steve studied printing at Santa Monica City College. For 45 years, he and Gail owned and operated One Stop Print Shop/Alpha Graphics in Santa Monica. Steve liked to joke that he worked “half days” there: 7 AM to 7 PM.
Following in the footsteps of his parents, Steve shrugged off his own troubles and was always the first to offer help to others. For decades, he delighted in playing Santa Claus at community and neighborhood events, bringing joy to countless children. He shared his love of the Los Angeles Dodgers with his family, enjoyed photographing nature and flowers, and was a devoted fan of Fred Flintstone, collecting memorabilia from the show.
In his later years, Steve was an ever-present and loving PopPop to his two grandchildren, a fixture at their school events, dance performances, fencing tournaments, and shuttling them wherever they needed to go. He always said that the best title he ever earned was PopPop.
Steve was an active and caring member of his community. He was a long-time Rotarian and served on the boards of the Santa Monica Family YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica. Together with Gail, he was also active in the Santa Monica Synagogue.
Given who Steve was and his lifelong devotion to supporting the community, in lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made in his honor and memory to one of these organizations that meant so much to him, so that his generosity and caring may live on:

• Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica: https://secure.qgiv.com/for/inmemoryofstevenlitvack/
• Santa Monica Synagogue: https://www.thesms.org/form/donations3.html
Steve will always be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and his deep love for his family and community.
“Yabba dabba doo!” It’s Steve’s final quitting time.
