Rose Helen Pilch passed away at the age of 100, just three weeks shy of her 101st birthday, on October 2, 2018 at her home in Los Angeles, surrounded by her loving family . Rose was a true matriarch who led a life dedicated to compassion for others. She cherished her family and community. She is survived by her son Lloyd (Berthe), her grandchildren Jessica (Mark), Samuel, Rebecca (George) Greenberg, Sheryl (William) Rosenberg, Jonathan (Amy) Pilch and her eight great-grandchildren Chason, Eleanor and Sienna Samuel, Oliver Greenberg, Alexa and Jonah Rosenberg and Micah and Forrest Pilch. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Pilch and son Howard Pilch. Rose was born in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, to Samuel and Becky Cohen. She and her twin sister Nettie Chelst, older sister Anne Miller and parents moved to Boyle Heights Los Angeles at the age of 8. Rose graduated from Roosevelt High School and shortly thereafter met the love of her life, Charles, to whom she was married for 55years. Rose and Charles lived a full life ,committed to Jewish values and serving their community. They were steadfast supporters of Temple Beth Am, which they served dutifully since 1950. A funeral will be held at Hillside Memorial, 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, on Thursday October 4at 1pm.Please contact Temple Beth Am for shiva information.
