Rona S. (Ruderman) Goldstein of Los Angeles passed away peacefully Thursday, October 14, 2021 after a brief battle with Cancer. She was 80.
She was born March 18, 1941 in Port Jervis, NY the daughter of the late Henry and the late Rose Ruderman. She had one sister Elizabeth Miller.
She graduated from Port Jervis High and Laselle College in Boston.
Rona married the late Richard Goldstein on June 25, 1961. They made Los Angeles their home, living in the same house in Brentwood for 56 years. Richard became a successful attorney, Rona followed her passion for giving back by volunteering for 35+ years at UCLA Medical Center, and together they raised two children. They had a son, the late Howard Goldstein and a daughter Marcia Goldstein-Nadler. Rona left a lasting impact of everyone she met.
Rona was very involved at Brentwood Elementary School in the PTA, Paul Revere Jr. High School and Palisades High School in the Booster Club. Rona was the founder of Safe Rides which gave teens a place to call for a ride home if they had been drinking or didn’t have a designated driver.Rona and her family were long time members of University Synagogue and Brentwood Country Club. Rona was a volunteer during the 1984 Olympics welcoming athletes into the Olympic Village. She volunteered many years for Special Olympics and Food on Foot.
Rona had a love of family and sports. She loved cheering on Stanford, the Dodgers, the Kings and Dartmouth baseball. Nothing made her happier than becoming a Nana for the first time! She had four grandchildren but was known as Nana Rona to so MANY more!! She will be greatly missed!
She is survived by:
Daughter: Marcia Goldstein-Nadler & her husband David Nadler of West Hills, CA
Grandsons: Harrison Rappoport of Salt Lake City, UT, Hayden Rappoport of Hoboken, NJ, Joshua Goldstein of Orlando, FL
Granddaughter: Nina Goldstein of Charlotte, NC
Sister: Elizabeth Miller of Pismo beach, CA
Sister in Law: Judy Perlman of New Orleans, LA
