Sally Sheryl Mellman passed away with her family by her side listening to Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and her other favorites. Her final dinner was a Reuben from Brent’s Deli and a hot fudge sundae as we celebrated her birthday a day early.
Sally was born in Duluth, Minnesota, however she considered herself a California girl. She is survived by her daughters Jill and Mindy and son David (Melissa) and grandchildren Rebecca and Matthew. She also had nieces and nephews that she was incredibly close to. She adored USC and shared this passion for the University Trojan Football program with her son.
She traveled the world as founder of Born to Travel. She and her daughter Jill worked together for many years sending people all over the world. Sally would often organize large group trips or cruises and would bring the family and friends along for the journey.
She is looking forward to her final journey where she will meet up with her husband Ralph, who has been patiently waiting for her for the last two years, after 60 years of marriage.
A survivor of many illnesses and diseases, Sally was a fighter but ultimately succumbed to an infection that was incurable. She was involved in community events including the Cancer Community Center, where she provided comfort to those afflicted by cancer, Sally being a three-time cancer survivor herself.
She was the best flag holder in the history of water skiing and her services will be sorely missed. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 26th at 1pm at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
