(April 8, 1945 – September 19, 2018) Born to Ellen and Harry Steinbaum in St. Louis, Mo., the family moved to Los Angeles in 1957, where Paul attended schools in Beverly Hills. After graduating from Beverly Hills High School, Paul continued his education at University of Wisconsin. His vibrant personality, charismatic smile and caring nature and prevailed in everything he did and inspired those who knew him. Not only was Paul exceptionally charming and dashingly handsome, but he was also the most kind, compassionate, empathetic and gentle man. He was always helping others and was genuinely concerned about his family and friends. For 27 years, Paul was a member of the Water Buffalo Club, a men’s charity that helps inner city children. He also was a volunteer at Cedars Sinai Hospital for many years where he found his work there gratifying.Paul excelled in all sports, but tennis was his one of his greatest passions. He loved music of all genres and enjoyed dancing. Traveling was a great source of pleasure, especially to new places where he could explore and meet people of all cultures & ethnicities. His generosity of spirit, creativity, enthusiasm, humor, quick wit and enduring optimism were prevalent throughout his entire life. In the past year Paul fought a brave and valiant battle against a rare form of lymphoma (PCNSL), yet always maintained a positive attitude throughout it all. Paul is survived by his caring and devoted Karen Todman, the love of his life for the past 17 years. He is also survived by his sisters Lynn Newman and Harriet Richman, nephew Jason Barrett, aunt Bunny Steinbaum and Paul’s beloved Maltese dog, Scarlette. Paul’s smile will forever be in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park on Sunday, Sep. 30, at 11 AM.
