Nathan “Nick” Horowitz was born on December 1, 1931 in Kansas City Missouri to Maurice and Anna Horowitz. Nick attended Kansas City schools and went to the University of Missouri for a couple of years. Yearning for adventure, he decided to join the United State Navy where he was trained as a yeoman. During his Navy enlistment, he met his future bride, Shirlee Baskin. On June 20, 1954, they were married in Los Angeles California. Nick and Shirlee had 5 children. Nick retired in 1995 from the State of California where he worked as an employment tax compliance officer.
Nathan Horowitz passed away on October 25, 2016 in Claremont California. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirlee, his sons Larry (Marci) Horowitz of Claremont California, Rick (Leony) Horowitz of Houston Texas, Robert “Scott” (Celna) Horowitz of Atlanta, Georgia, Pam (Corey) McGinnis of Claremont California, and Michael (Bonnie) Horowitz of Covina California. He is survived by his sister, Helen Brooks, of Overland Park Kansas. He was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Horowitz-Kotelov of Overland Park Kansas. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on October 27, 2016 at Hillside Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California.
