Mavis passed on October 23 at the age of 90, succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease. She was a lifelong educator, activist, and volunteer. She survived her husband of 60 years Al, and is survived by her four children, their spouses, her 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Los Angeles and was a longtime resident of Pacific Palisades.
A memorial will be held on December 11th. Donations in Mavis’ memory to the Familial Dysautonomia Foundation in New York or to the Alzheimer’s Association would be a welcome way to honor her.
