(2-12-38 – 9-19-23)

Mary Ann Frances Brooks, 85, of Calabasas, unexpectedly passed away on September 19, 2023, due to complications from heart surgery.

Mary Ann was born on February 12, 1938, to Matt and Anna (Plesko) Marinkovich in San Pedro, California. After graduating Van Nuys High School, Mary Ann attended the University of Southern California.

On July 4, 1960, Mary Ann met her soon-to-be husband, Dave, at a pool party at their apartment and the rest was history. Mary Ann and Dave married on December 16, 1960. Mary Ann and Dave have two children, Marc and Daviann.

Mary Ann’s passion was her family, the arts, and she loved life. Mary Ann lived her best life, enjoying Sunday dinners with family, annual Christmas dinners, traveling the world with Dave, being a Life Master in Bridge, painting, needlepointing, knitting, and in her later years competing throughout the US in Mahjong tournaments. Mary Ann mentored many in her needlework as well as Bridge and Mahjong. Mary Ann never let life get in the way of a good Mahjong game!

Mary Ann was predeceased by both of her parents and brother Matt Marinkovich Jr. She is survived by her children, Marc Brooks, and his wife Kathy, Daviann Braun and her husband Brent; three grandchildren, Jason Brooks and his wife Stephanie, and their beautiful great grandson Ford David Brooks. Granddaughters Katie Brooks, and Mary Ann Mitchell.
