With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Burton Charles Jacobson, 94, on December 3rd 2025. He died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes at his home in Cheviot Hills, Los Angeles, California with his family..
Burton was born on October 21st 1931 in Hartford, Connecticut to Arthur Myer Jacobson and Anna Roslyn Bartenstein.
He grew up in New Haven and attended the University of Connecticut where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He then moved to Los Angeles, California, to attend Loyola Law School, where he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. After graduation, he worked as an attorney in the D.A.’s office for three years where he made lifelong connections. Afterwards, he decided to go into private practice, so he hung a shingle in the Beverly Hills Law Building where he practiced law for well over 50 years, right up until a few months before he passed. Word of mouth quickly spread as to his legal prowess, and he soon gained a reputation for being an outstanding lawyer.
He married Margaret Ann Martinsen, with whom he was married to for 58 years, right up until the time of her passing on December 6th 2020, almost exactly 5 years before his.
Burton is survived by his two children, Michael Arthur Jacobson and Jennifer Marie Liguori, and his three grandchildren: Julian Sabato Liguori, 31, son of Mario and Jennifer Liguori, and Ian Roman Jacobson, 10, and Miles Lennon Jacobson, 9, sons of Michael Jacobson and Nancy Roman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, many close friends, and his beloved wife, Margaret.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at 10:00AM at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. 90045
