Lola Marion Bergman died on Monday, July 6, 2026. She was born in the Bronx, New York to parent Albert Abraham Bergman, a clerk, and Fannie Bergman, a school secretary, at the New York City Board of Education. Lola attended Thomas Jefferson High school, Pratt Institute, and received her Bachelor and Master’s degrees at Long Beach State University majoring in art. After graduating, she became an art teacher and then decided she would like to be a city planner. She started out as a city planner in Gardena, California and afterwards, in Rolling Hills, California. After retirement, she became president of her local League of Women’s Voters in Torrance and then became the regional president of the SouthBay League. She and her husband, Marty, were instrumental in developing the Southcoast Botanic Gardens on the Palos Verde peninsula. She was also appointed as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles Drug and Alcohol commission.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Chuck Ungar(Janet), Bill Ungar (Bettina), and Robert Ungar; three grandchildren, Keira, Aubree(Max), and Josh (Ivy), and her great granddaughter, Ameliah.
