June 2, 1930 – April 13, 2022 Born in Chicago to Victoria & Meyer Robbin, Joyce moved to Los Angeles at age 3 and lived here with her sister Beth and attended Carthay Circle Elementary, John Burroughs and LA High where she was a Dante, a big part of her life where she met many lifelong friends. She met and married the love of her life Lawrence “Lawrie” Michael Powell, January 9th, 1949, a day where it snowed in Los Angeles for the first time! Joyce and Lawrie lived a wonderful life for almost 70 years together. They raised 3 children, Linda, Rick and Nancy. Together they traveled the world. Joyce was an avid golfer, card player and a fixture at Hillcrest Country Club. She was a philanthropist, who lived her life giving back to others. She was a Lion of Judah and a past Lion award recipient, a past Jewish Family Service & Jewish Vocational Service Board member. She was a founding member of Concern Foundation for Cancer Research where she remained an active Board member. One of her greatest joys was donating Grand Pianos to Cedars Sinai, Children’s Hospital and City of Hope. She loved walking through these hospital lobbies and seeing the pleasure that the music brought to the patients. Family was everything to Joyce, she leaves behind daughters Linda Powell Davis and Nancy (Mike) Eisenstadt and son Rick (Debbie) Powell. Her grandchildren Brett (Heidi) and Jamie Davis, Jeremy (Tahl) and Ashley Powell and Tori and Bryan Eisenstadt. Proud Great Grandma “GG” to Noa and Romi Powell and Brielle Davis. She also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Thank you to her many caregivers for your love and support! Joyce told it like it was and lived life to the fullest. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15 at 10 am at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to: Concern Foundation for Cancer Research, 11111 West Olympic Blvd., 214, LA, CA 90064 or JVS SoCal Scholarship Committee, 6505 Wilshire Blvd., 200, LA, CA 90048.
