Janice Arlene Karlin

Janice Arlene Karlin, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Feb 27, 2026 at the age of 88. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the cherished daughter of Manuel and Rose Hirsch and the sister of Lenore.

Janice graduated as valedictorian of Allderdice High School and then attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education. She was an elementary school teacher for thirty years.

She married Marshall Bruce Karlin in 1962 and together they raised three children: Nina MD (Keith MD); Pam (John PhD) ; Lisa (Marco PhD). She was also a proud grandmother to Sarah PhD (Jimmy), Matthew, Joshua, and Leon.

Janice was known for her kindness and deep commitment to her family. She will be greatly missed and remembered with love by all who knew her.
