Jackie was born on September 27, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel and Lena Chesler. Jackie moved to Los Angeles with her family as a teenager, and she graduated from Fairfax High School.
On February 12, 1959 Jackie married Alvin Kurtzman. Jackie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she often mentioned how much she loved being a mom. Once her children were in school she began a career as a travel agent and tour escort. She had a lifelong passion for travel and enjoyed many adventures all over the world. She was happiest when she was off exploring new places and sampling the local cuisines. After retiring from the travel business, Jackie created and sold beautiful custom dried flower arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Lori Kurtzman of Long Beach, CA, Clifford Kurtzman of Pismo Beach, CA, Dru (John) Mueller of Iowa City, IA; four grandchildren, Kira Kurtzman and Kaspar, Bennett and Alena Mueller; and her sister Natalie Handelman of Highland Park, IL.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin in 2014, son Kenneth Kurtzman and daughter Shelley Glasky.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care, and loving compassion provided by her caregivers Echel De Leon and Sarah Buslon.
Private family graveside services will be held at Hillside Memorial Park Mortuary at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016.
