Harvey Gold, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on October 27, 2025. He was 87 years old.
Born on January 14, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, Harvey spent his early years there before moving with his family to Arizona and ultimately to Los Angeles — the city he would come to call home. He attended both high school and college in Los Angeles, where he built a life rooted in love, learning, and community. A longtime UCLA and Dodgers fan, Harvey cheered passionately for his teams and loved attending games in person. He also relished exploring the world — its people, places, and cultures — and each journey deepened his curiosity and zest for life.
Harvey enjoyed a remarkable 40-year career as a software manager in research and development, contributing his expertise to the technology and defense sectors. Known for his steady leadership, inquisitive mind, and inventive spirit, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Harvey found joy in life’s simple and enduring pleasures. He loved the taste of fresh rye bread, the calm of gardening, and the joy of playing the piano beautifully, by ear. He was an avid tennis player, a warm and loyal friend who loved socializing, and a devoted husband who treasured long walks with his beloved wife, Gail.
Family was always at the heart of Harvey’s world. He was a loving husband to Gail for 64 years and a proud father to Gary, Mike, Jeff, and Michelle. He is survived by his sister, Vivian, and her husband, Phillip; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Susan; his son-in-law, Michael; and his daughters-in-law, Nadia and Tracy. Harvey was also the cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren — Sasha, Elijah, Jack, Danielle, Liam, Jacob, Dylan, Zoe, and Sienna — each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Harvey will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and wisdom — a man who led with kindness, lived with an ever-curious spirit, and loved deeply. His laughter, music, and gentle heart will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
