Harris Toibb was born on November 1, 1941 in Boston, MA, and passed on July 17, 2024 peacefully, with his wife Linda by his side in their Santa Monica residence.
Harris comes from humble beginnings and great loss. His father Leon passed away when Harris was young and Joe Twicken, his brother in law, assumed the role of a father figure to him. Joe passed away two years later. Lillian, Harris’ mother told him that now you are the man of the house. He took her words very seriously and from that day on began his journey of finding ways to support his mother and sisters Claire and Bernice.
His work ethic and determination served him well and propelled him from shining shoes on the street corners of Boston to becoming an owner of the Wallace Berrie Company in Van Nuys, California where he headed up the Sales Division. He was instrumental in acquiring the licensing rights to the one of their most famous products, The Smurfs which are still being enjoyed and produced today. The company then purchased Applause and continued its success in the toy and gift industry where Harris was CEO.
Harris’ interests began to change and he made a move to establish Toibb Enterprises which acquires commercial real estate and manages the same. Toibb Enterprises is now 34 years old and has set a standard in the commercial real estate industry and is very well respected.
As a young boy, Harris became a philanthropist even with his limited funds. Through his business success he was in a position to donate funds and make a difference in the world. His last dream was building the new Friendship Foundation Campus in Redondo Beach. He participated in the design of the building, working with Rabbi Yossi Mintz, and the funding of the project. His drive to secure donations has made the dream come true. The Campus will be completed in the summer of 2025.
Harris is preceded in death by his sister Claire. He is survived by his sister Bernice, his children Gail, Michael, Meredith, Melissa and Christopher. He was blessed with five grandchildren, Lillian, Chloe, Tess, Christian and Neil.
Funeral Services are July 24th at 2pm in the main chapel. His celebration of life will continue at his residence starting at 5pm.
