Gloria “Bunny” Wallach
October 15, 1926 – March 1, 2018
Bunny Wallach died peacefully at home in Los Angeles on March 1, 2018. She was born and raised in St. Louis Missouri, the cherished daughter of Maurice and Francis Jackman, and was predeceased by her elder sister Madeline, whom she adored.
Married in 1945, in St. Louis to her first husband Dr. Malcolm Marlis; the young couple moved westward to Los Angeles in 1954. Bunny was a wonderful mother who always put family first. Her beloved three children were her pride and joy: Rand Marlis, Steve Marlis and Beth Marlis.
In 1968, she married Dr. Howard Wallach, expanding the family to include three dear stepchildren, Joan Tyndall, John Wallach and Rich Wallach. Bunny is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren, of whom she was very proud: Brent Marlis, Stephanie Marlis-Kupperman, Kevin Marlis and Jennifer Marlis; step-grandchildren Darin, Sophia, David, Ben, Gracie, Ezra, and step-great-granddaughters Dakota and Luna. Bunny was also a great and lifelong lover of dogs, animals and all babies everywhere.
Bunny was the epitome of style, and taste. She was fortunate to have traveled the world extensively, experiencing many cultures and the vast beauty of nature. She had a talent for interior design and a love of the arts. A lover of life, she was strong, capable, independent and kind.
Bunny had many friends, a large social circle and was a charming and generous hostess for many events and soirees. She was happily married to Howard for 44 years, and strongly supported him in his work for many years as a leading psychoanalyst and as President of the Californian Psychiatric Association, as well as her support of many charities, including the ASPCA and Beit T’shuvah.
The family wishes to thank Bunny’s wonderful longtime caregivers; Queen Ordaz, Nina, Lani, Melody and Jai.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on March 7, 2018 at Hillside Memorial Park, 6001 Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bunny Wallach’s name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (“ASPCA”) Los Angeles. www.aspca.org
