January 21, 1924 – January 3, 2016
Elaine passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 3, 2016 with her adoring daughters by her side. Born in New York to Gladys and Al Becker, she came with her family to live in Los Angeles in 1926. She graduated from Fairfax High School and went on to work for 20th Century Fox.
She met the love of her life, Ernie, in 1946. They married in 1947 and for the next 65 years they shared a rich and rewarding life of world travel, skiing, golf, theater, arts, music, philanthropy, and a wonderful group of friends. Elaine was an avid sportswoman and as a young adult was a competitive swimmer and ice skater. She excelled at bowling, golfing and her favorite sport, skiing. ‘Elegant’ is the first word that anyone who knew her used to describe Elaine. She was kind, loyal and along with her dry wit, loved to laugh. Elaine was supportive and generous to her adored friends, many were lifelong relationships. She cherished her life as a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother.
The family thanks and is forever grateful to Elvie Saldivar and Elaine’s many caregivers who gave her so much love and good care.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Ernie Warsaw. She is survived by her treasured daughters Tina Gittelson and Jan Warsaw, beloved grandson Max Gittelson and son-in-law, Michael Gittelson.
May her memory be a blessing.
Services will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hillside Memorial Park Mortuary, 800-576-1994.
