Doris Mae Azis

Longtime Santa Monica resident, Doriz Azis, passed away in Scripp’s Hospical, Encinitas on September 1, 2016 from complications related to a fall. Doris was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in November of 1928. She grew up in St. Paul and Phoenix, Arizona. At 20 she moved to California and worked in the medical field until 1978, then worked for the Santa Monica Police Department until her retirement in 1995. Doris led an active life with friends and family, enjoyed reading, art, and cooking, and in retirement, tutored elementary age children in reading. She married Max Azis in 1970 and he predeceased her in 2006. Her brother, Sherman, predeceased her in 2014. She is survived by her sister, Sue Noon, six neices and nephews, and 10 great nieces and nephews. Doris’s life was one mostly lived for others and she will be greatly missed.
