To the Brenner family: I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you find this promise consoling; Isaiah 26:19 “Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, You residents in the dust! For your dew is as the dew of the morning, And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life."

I only met Judge Brenner three years ago on a Mexican cruise. We shared conversation and laughs. Dan was a very comfortable person to be around. I guess we clicked because we both work in the legal field (myself for in-house counsel for Esurance). On the cruise, he spoke of his mate who was many miles away and how he was missing him. Since that time, we bumped into each other in social circles a few times. When I saw the article in the LA Times on Feb. 17th, I was quite upset. I think it's quite a testament to Dan's personality that I remember him so well. So to his brothers and his other half, you have my deepest sympathy. Dan will never be forgotten and that's a heck of way to make an exit.

I was lucky enough to meet Dan when I first entered the cable industry. He was always a wonderful speaker and someone we all enjoyed listening to at all those industry events. Years later we found out that I worked with his Mom at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. A true loss to all of us. I miss his humor and his smile. I will be planting a ring of trees in Israel in Dan's name. RIP to someone that will never be replaced.

Dan was a shining star and we always had fun together over the many years that we knew each other. He was brilliant, witty, thoughtful, sensitive, gentle and a mensch in every respect. He brought out the best in so many because he was the best himself. I will always remember him as a person of quality, depth and imagination. He has left us all too soon, but also with an indelible image of someone who had such a joyful approach to living. I will miss his laughter always.
