Barry Penter Levenson

Barry Penter Levenson of Los Angeles passed away Friday evening (December 26th) surrounded by family & friends. He was 77 years old.

Barry was born in San Diego, CA, on March 4th, 1948, the second child to Gladys (Goldie) Feinberg and Morey Levenson. He grew up in San Diego before moving to Los Angeles, where he attended Hamilton High School and later studied at Santa Monica College.

Barry lived a life most would yearn to have experienced. He spent his early career working in retail men's clothing at the Century Plaza Hotel and later explored many entrepreneurial business opportunities.

He met the love of his life, Linda Lee, in the mid 1970’s and married on the island of Maui on September 2nd, 1988. They lived together in Sherman Oaks until Barry moved to the west side of Los Angeles following Linda’s passing in 2015.

Barry loved everyone around him and carried a positive outlook on life that was felt by all who knew him. He found immense joy in connecting with others, talking about life, goals, ambitions, and had a rare gift for making people feel seen and valued. Barry was everyone’s cheerleader, with a way of making each person feel as though they were the most important person in the world; because to him, they were.

Barry’s greatest gift was the way he connected with others, always meeting people with kindness and genuine interest. He enjoyed conversations about sports, business, politics, and the new ideas and ventures that constantly inspired him. He had a deep love for Catalina Island, where his maternal family spent much of their time before moving to Los Angeles. In recent years, one of Barry’s greatest joys was returning to Avalon each summer to be with family; walking along the front street for ice cream and lying by the beach, always content and present in the moments he cherished most.

Barry lived on the west side of Los Angeles for the last eight years, predominantly to be closer to his dear friends and family, whom he cared so deeply for. He loved spending time with his close friends, many of whom he grew up with and remained incredibly close to his entire life.

A funeral service will take place January 8th, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Park: 6001 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA, 90045
