Barri Sturm passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 62. She is the daughter of Patty Ex (nee Rubenstein) of Los Angeles and was predeceased by her father Alan Charles Sturm.
Barri is also survived by her sister Dena S. Sturm and her husband Eric C. Andrus of New York City, and her brother Craig Sturm and his wife Linda Gavalin, and step-sister Stephanie Bien and her daughters Rebecca Bien and Jessica Bien, and step-brother Jeffery Ex. Barri is also survived by her uncle Howard Rubenstein and her aunts Phyllis Rubenstein and Sherre Sturm. She is the much beloved “Auntie Booya” to Dena and Eric’s children, Marley Andrus and Alec Andrus.
She loved her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephew. She combined her passions for family and travel during trips to Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Nice, Madrid, and New York City.
Barri attended the California State University at Northridge. After her successful career in the Media and Television industry, she devoted much of her time to volunteering to care for the more than 200 rescue animals at The Gentle Barn in Santa Clarita, CA. “Barnyard Barri”, as she was affectionately known, was often found fussing over her favorite animals, especially Earl.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary, 6001 West Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m.
