Ann Gail (Pyenson) Stone of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 74 years old. Ann is survived by her 3 sons, Gary (Cyndee) of Denver, CO, Jonathan of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Jeffrey (Kimi) of Tokyo, Japan. And her beloved sheltie, Cody. Ann was born in Urbana-Champagne, Illinois, on August 2, 1941 to Harry and Rose Pyenson. She grew up in Los Angeles, the oldest of five children. She attended LA High School and received an Education degree from USC. While there, she met Marvin Stone, and they were married for 51 years, until his sudden death in 2014. In addition to raising her three boys, Ann was a fantastic K-1 elementary school teacher for over 40 years, mostly with the PVUSD. She was best known for bringing fertile chicken eggs into the classroom and having the students help care for them until they hatched. The inspiration came from her family’s poultry farm in Otis, Massachusetts. She made visits back to “the farm” almost every year. Ann loved collecting things from her trips around the world however, her most prized collection was her family and friends, who played a central role in her life. She was much loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday 11am at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, 6001 W. Centinela Ave, LA, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marvin S. and Ann G. Stone Electrical Engineering Scholarship by sending a check payable to USC, 1150 S. Olive Street, Suite 1510, LA CA 90015.
