Ralph Philip Mellman, born May 22, 1924 in Columbus, Ohio to Rae and Esadore Mellman, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016 with his family by his side. Ralph spent the final years of his long life living in Westlake Village, CA after spending many years in Chatsworth, CA. Ralph enlisted in the Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge with many brave men. After the war, Ralph attended Ohio State University and became a Buckeye for life. After attending college he spent time in the family construction business with his father. Together, they built many buildings, some of which are still standing in Dayton, Ohio. Ralph learned a lot about construction in his early years that served him throughout his life. It was well known by his family and friends that Ralph could fix anything! Ralph moved to California and worked in the architectural field as a specifications writer. Ralph owned his own business, provided employment opportunities for many people (including his children) and was involved in construction projects in Las Vegas, including the Flamingo Hotel. He also worked on the Hollywood Bowl and many other Los Angeles landmarks. Ralph is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally, his three children, Jill, Mindy and David (Melissa), and two loving grandchildren, Rebecca and Matthew. Services are being held at Hillside Memorial on Sunday at 11:00AM. 6001 W. Centinela Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045
