We read Bert's obituary in the LA Times, and realized we had seen him dance across movie and TV screens many times. As I write this, we are just watching his bravura dancing in GUYS AND DOLLS, one of the many MGM films of the 40s and 50s that Bert danced in. After we read Bert's obituary, and being big musical film fans, we started watching for Bert in a number of those musicals, and always were able to find him because of his distinctive dancing and style. We regret we weren't familiar with him years ago, but we will always watch his filmwork with great pleasure. May he rest in peace, and may his memory always be for a blessing.

Bert was an incredibly talented dancer and an extraordinary gentleman. I had the pleasure of interviewing him many years ago and we stayed in touch. The holiday season wasn't complete until I received Bert's extremely neat, typewritten Yuletide greeting. My condolences to Bert's sister and the entire family. In Peace...Mark Griffin.

Although only a peripheral friend, I knew John well enough to say that he was a truly outstanding musician and an absolute genius at transcribing the works of other famous musicians. He had an extraordinary year for the nuances of fine jazz music. I am the proud owner of many of his fine books of music, as well as a few of his CDs. I had the honor of playing music with Jon on several occasions, and it was always a pleasure. I wish him well as well as offering well wishes to his family, especially his mother. Best, David Abramis
