Alan John Shanedling was born on February 19, 1946 in Minneapolis, MN. The eldest son of Donald and Miriam Shanedling, Alan spent the early years of his life in Minneapolis where his family welcomed his siblings, David and Deborah. When Alan was eleven, the family relocated to Beverly Hills, CA. Alan graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1964 where he played football. After high-school, Alan flew east to study Business at Boston University. Ultimately, Alan returned to L.A. in his early adult years and called the city home.

Alan’s professional life was defined by the business he established and ran for over 38 years. He founded Fleetwood Limousine in 1984 when LA hosted the Summer Olympics; through his dedicated effort and commitment over the years, the business grew. Alan’s pride and passion for his work is best expressed by how he treated his employees and customers like family.

Throughout Alan’s seventy-six years, he enjoyed most the time spent with his family, traveling the world, and building lasting friendships. Alan cared for others with his whole heart and demonstrated this through his generosity. His love for animals was contagious. His sense of humor and relaxed nature will be greatly missed, always remembered, and forever in our hearts.

Alan passed away on December 17, 2022 and is survived by his mother Miriam Groman (Josh Kheel), his sister Deborah Stern (Ellis), his brother David Shanedling (Paula), his children Danielle Crume (T.J.) and Mitzi Shanedling, his partner Nancy Selik Pritchard, his step-son Hunter Pritchard, his grandchildren Isabelle, Madeline, Thomas, and Harrison Crume, and so many loving friends.

There will be a service at Noon on Thursday, December 22nd at Hillside Memorial Park (6001 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90045) with a reception to follow at Hillcrest Country Club (10000 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Alan’s name to Rovers Retreat.
